Kibler's Longrifles Knowledge Base

What kind of thread compound is used on the breech plug of Kibler kits, and can the breech plug be removed to clear a stuck ball?

Kibler uses copper anti-seize on the breech plug threads. If you need to remove the breech plug to clear a stuck ball or broken ball puller, you can remove the barrel from the stock and unscrew the breech plug using a large wrench. It is highly recommended to make a witness mark on the barrel and breech plug before disassembly to ensure they line up perfectly upon reinstallation. You will need a strong bench vise to clamp the barrel. Copper, brass, or aluminum jaws are recommended to prevent damage to the barrel.
