Should the breech plug threads be case hardened?

Jim does not recommend case hardening the breech plug threads, even though the rest of the breech plug can be hardened. Proper case hardening for actual hardness could make the threads too brittle or hard to work with. Low temperature color case hardening done purely for color, without real hardening depth, is less of a concern, but true case hardening on the threads is not a good idea.
