Ramrod: It won't reach the bottom in its channel, what do I do?

This is usually a line-of-sight issue, not a length problem. Lay the ramrod alongside the barrel to compare lengths. Also check for obstructions in the channel by holding a light at the end. Don't cut the rod until you've confirmed the actual barrel depth.
