What should I do if a pin won't go into a ramrod pipe or similar hole?
Do not force it by continuing to hammer, since a pin can act like a nail and create its own hole, causing a blowout. Check that the holes line up first, use a clamp to hold the part in place while starting the pin, and if it will not go in from one side, try turning the part around and driving it from the other side.
