What are the differences between Tried & True Varnish Oil and Kibler's Gunstock Sealer & Finish?
Tried & True takes longer to dry between coats. Putting it out in the sunshine helps a lot. Plan on applying at least 4 coats, making sure each coat dries fully before the next. It may take 3 to 4 days to dry between coats. This gives a nice finish that is not very shiny. You can cut it 50/50 with turpentine if you want it thinner, but you do not have to.
Kibler's Gunstock Sealer & Finish is made by us and sold on our website. It is a tung oil based product. Put only one coat in the inlets, and use a paintbrush or similar tool to get it out of small areas where it can pool. Plan on applying at least 4 to 5 coats, though the number is up to your taste. It dries a little shinier than Tried & True, but you can use pumice powder to rub back the shine. It dries faster than Tried & True, but you still need to make sure each coat is dry before applying the next. Scotch-Brite works well for applying both finishes.
