Adding a brass patchbox to a wooden-patchbox Colonial

Yes, a brass patch box can be added later to a Colonial kit that shipped with a wooden patch box. This was sometimes done in the original period. The easiest way is to change out the buttplate, but the builder could also solder in a patch. Either approach works well.
