barrel finishing

The barrels do not strictly require finishing, but for a finer finish they can be draw filed. A metal treatment like Jax Black can be applied to achieve an aged look. Applying some oil will help slow the rusting process; if rust does develop, it can be removed using a little Scotch-Brite and oil.
