New barrel roughness, chatter, and initial fouling

Visual roughness or chatter and dirty patches in a never-shot barrel do not automatically mean a defect. Judge a barrel by how it shoots and how quickly it fouls in actual use. Black powder always produces fouling, even in slick barrels. A tight patch and ball combination helps push fouling down the barrel each load. If a barrel does not shoot well or fouls too quickly, contact Kibler's and we will supply another barrel.
