Recommended tools - Jim's guidance on quality and selection
Chisels: Pfeil or Swiss Made from Woodcraft are recommended. Cheaper chisels are acceptable if sharpened more often, and Narex is affordable with decent quality. Sharpening: medium and fine grit stones are enough, and Arkansas, ceramic, or diamond stones all work, with Arkansas a good practical choice. Cabinet scraper: useful, preferably a thin square flat scraper around .020 to .025 inches, though any cabinet scraper can work. Draw filing: an 8 inch flat mill file is usually enough.
