Why does Kibler's cut stock blanks before kiln drying instead of drying whole planks?
Cutting blanks first avoids drying wood that will not end up being used, and blanks dry faster and with less internal stress than wide planks because a blank has a larger surface area relative to its volume. Wide planks are more prone to cracking during drying.
