Why do many modern reproduction English guns have oversized forestocks?
Most manufactured guns that claim to be English style have overly thick forestocks because drilling the ramrod hole through a slim forestock is difficult, so makers thicken the wood to avoid dealing with that challenge. Original English fowling pieces actually have very slim forestocks, and the Kibler Fowler kit is built to match that slimmer, more accurate proportion.
