Why did Jim Kibler make the Hawken kit's buttplate wider than on many original Hawken rifles?
Many original Hawken rifles had a very thin buttstock paired with a very large barrel and forestock, which looked like two different guns joined together and felt unbalanced. Widening the buttplate slightly on the Kibler Hawken kit was done to improve that balance.
