Kibler's Longrifles Knowledge Base

What makes the Woodsrunner buttplate a difficult part to CNC machine?

The buttplate is thin walled and has an organic, non square shape, which makes it hard to hold securely and hard to build an efficient tool path for compared to simple parts that sit flat in a vise. Developing an accurate 3D model of the part was also tricky, so Kibler's built a model by hand and used 3D scanning to capture the surface data before turning it into a solid model.
