What is the purpose of a touch hole liner?
A touch hole liner is a threaded insert in the side of the barrel that provides better ignition. It is coned on the inside so the powder charge poured down the barrel sits closer to the outside, which shortens the effective hole length, making ignition less prone to fouling and slightly faster than a plain drilled hole.
