What is a three stage barrel?
A three stage barrel has a round forward section, an intermediate round section of larger diameter, and an octagon breech section. It is a very old English barrel form dating to around the 1650s-1660s that mostly faded out on high end guns by the early 18th century, but continued in use on trade guns and carried over to the Kibler Fowler kit.
