What is a captured key on a Hawken rifle, and how does it work?
A captured key is a barrel key with a slot cut in it. A pin is inserted through a small hole in the stock so the pin extends through the slot and into the wood below. This lets the key slide out partway but not come out completely, keeping it from being lost during use.
