How much material does the rifling cutter remove on each pass?
Each pass takes roughly three and a half to four tenths of a thousandth of an inch, which is a heavier cut than commonly recommended for cut rifling. This heavier pass produces a real chip instead of powdery metal, still leaves a good bore finish, and significantly cuts down cycle time.
