What is the process Kibler's uses to turn a maple log into a dried stock blank?
Logs are cut into planks on the sawmill, then the planks are air dried for a period to bring the moisture content down to around 20 percent or a bit less. After that, the planks are cut into the rough profile of a gunstock blank and dried further in a dehumidification kiln until ready to use.
