How did Kibler's turn maple logs into dried stock blanks when it ran its own sawmill?
When we ran our own sawmill, logs were cut into planks, air dried to around 20 percent moisture or a bit less, then cut into rough gunstock blanks and finished in a dehumidification kiln. We no longer run the sawmill. Today we buy boards dried to under about 15 percent, cut them into blanks, and finish them in our kiln to around 8 percent.
