Is there a good way to learn engraving techniques today?
There are a lot of talented contemporary engravers doing excellent, if stylistically different, work compared to historic longrifle engraving, and their techniques can be a good resource to learn from. Most people learn faster using pneumatic or power gravers rather than a hammer and chisel, but studying original longrifle work is still strongly recommended for anyone wanting to engrave in that period style.
