Why won't the lock bolt thread into the lock on my kit?
The most common reason a lock bolt will not thread in is that the barrel is not fully seated in the stock, meaning it is not pushed all the way back against the breech and all the way down in the barrel channel. Because there is a cross hole through the breech plug's bolster, an unseated barrel pushes the bolt off course. Spotting compound and magnification can help confirm the barrel is properly seated. If the barrel is seated correctly, check that the lock is not canted or out of its inlet, then use the supplied tap to chase the threads as if it were the bolt, and as a last resort file or slightly enlarge the hole through the breech plug bolster if there is minor misalignment.
