Why is scraping preferred over sandpaper for cleaning up carving backgrounds?
Scraping with a chisel works a bit better than sandpaper for cleaning up carving backgrounds because sandpaper is hard to get into nooks and crannies and can clog quickly. That said, sandpaper can still be used if it is more comfortable for the builder.
