Why is lighting so important when working on a rifle stock?
A direct, movable source of light is one of the most important tools for stock work because it lets you cast shadows, and casting shadows is how you read the surface shapes and see what you are doing. Fluorescent fill light is not very useful for this. Jim recommends a light with a long reach, like an articulating arm lamp, rather than small clip-on lights.
