Why doesn't the ramrod fit right out of the box?
Ramrods likely will not slide into the ramrod hole right out of the box and need to be tapered or sanded down in the area that enters the stock. Do not drill out the ramrod hole to fit the rod, since that risks damaging the stock. Sanding with coarse paper or using a scraper are standard ways to taper the rod to fit.
