Kibler's Longrifles Knowledge Base

Why does Kibler's cut stock blanks small instead of using large oversized blanks?

Cutting blanks small and close to the pattern allows Kibler's to get significantly more usable blanks out of a given log or board, sometimes half again as many or more compared to suppliers who sell large oversized blanks. Since stocks are eventually profiled out on a bandsaw anyway, there's no need to buy or use edged, oversized boards, and live-edge boards give a better yield.
