Why are the pin holes through the under lugs elongated into slots instead of left as round holes?
Elongating the pin holes into slots with a jeweler's saw lets the stock move independently of the barrel as wood expands and contracts with humidity changes and as the barrel heats and cools. Without that room to move, stress can build up between the stock and barrel and can even shift the rifle's point of impact.
