What tools can be used to outline a carving?
A carving outline can be cut with a knife, a V tool, or a set of gouges with different sweeps stabbed in along the line. Using multiple gouges gives good control but may require 12 to 15 different sweeps to do a thorough job, while a V tool or knife needs only one tool but is harder to control.
