What kind of vise does Jim use for gun work, and why does it work well?
Jim uses a heavy cast iron layout table with a vise built around a shot put ball, which lets it pivot and swivel into different positions. It also moves up and down on a pin so the height can be adjusted, and it has a front swivel jaw so it can clamp onto tapered barrel sections. He built this arrangement himself, custom and handmade.
