What is transfer color and why is it used when fitting metal parts into a rifle stock?
Transfer color, commonly Prussian blue, is a pigmented material brushed onto a metal part before test-fitting it into the wood. Where the color rubs off onto the wood, that shows exactly where the metal and wood are making contact, or interfering, which tells the builder where to remove wood.
