What is the tradeoff between using a coarse file and a fine file when polishing brass parts?

A coarser file removes material faster but leaves coarser marks that take longer to remove afterward, while a finer file cuts more slowly but leaves less work to clean up. It is a balance, and finer files also tend to clog more.
