What is the fastest way to build up a smoke damaged rifle after a house fire?
If it is just soot and the metal did not get very hot, the soot can often be wiped off, and something like Murphy's Oil Soap is sometimes used to help clean wooden objects like a stock. If the finish is more heavily affected, the piece could be disassembled, and the wood finish stripped with something like acetone and refinished from there.
