What is the best way to remove the barrel from a stock during assembly?
Hold the stock upside down, grip the barrel near the muzzle reasonably tight with one hand while resting the stock in the other, then tap the barrel to start it moving and help guide it as it pulls out. This is a better method than picking the barrel up by the muzzle.
