There is a gap or hole in the stock between the barrel channel and the lock inlet, is that a defect?
A hole roughly half an inch to three quarters of an inch long between the barrel channel and the lock inlet is normal and not a defect. It occurs where the mainspring inlet breaks through the barrel channel on the 45 degree flat, and this same detail appears on high end custom guns as a sign of correct, quality work.
