Should you use oil or grease when reassembling a flintlock?
On high load points, such as the tumbler shaft, the sear bearing surfaces, and the mainspring, a little grease is preferred over oil since it stays in place better under load. A small amount of oil can also be used on lighter contact points like screws and pivots.
