Should the sight overhang the sides of the barrel?

It is fine, and actually a good idea, to leave the edges of a sight hanging over the sides of the barrel a bit rather than filing them perfectly flush. This leaves room to adjust the sight for windage later, though the sharp edges should still be rounded off for comfort and appearance.
