Should I sand a stock before or after the rifle is fully assembled?
You should sand after the whole gun is assembled and the parts are in place, not before. Trying to sand a stock before assembly does not work well, and similarly you should not polish metal parts like the butt plate or trigger guard until after assembly, since the building process will scratch them and require repolishing anyway.
