Kibler's Longrifles Knowledge Base

Is it necessary to take a flintlock completely apart before fitting the lock plate into the stock?

It is not strictly necessary, since the edges can be filed with the parts still on the lock, but it is trickier that way. Taking the lock apart first makes it easier to true up and file the edges of the plate cleanly.
