In what order should I build, finish, and sand a rifle kit?
Build the gun and get everything fit first, then adjust the stock and the hardware to match each other, then finish, and only then sand the wood and metal parts. Sanding or polishing hardware before the gun is fully built and fitted causes problems, since fitting parts like a trigger guard involves bending and tapping that will mar a pre-polished finish.
