How would you add a tow plate to a Southern Mountain Rifle?
To add a tow plate, use relatively thin sheet steel, around .030 inch, ordinary mild steel is fine. Cut a piece oversize with a hacksaw, trace and scribe its outline onto the stock, remove the wood inside that outline, screw the plate down with wood screws, and then file the plate flush with the edges of the stock.
