How should ramrod pipes be checked and prepped so the ramrod hole lines up before pinning them?
The drilled hole is aligned with the ramrod groove in the stock, but the ramrod pipe inlets are left with a slight radius at each end from the cutter that must be chiseled out, otherwise the pipe cannot seat fully and the rod will not line up with the hole. Trim only the radius at the ends of the inlet, check alignment by passing a dowel through the pipe into the hole, and make sure the rod itself is sized down since dowel rod is typically a bit oversized for the hole.
