How should I finish a carved Woodsrunner stock?
Because the machining leaves a smooth surface, only light sanding is needed, starting around 220 to 320 grit along with some Scotch Brite and very fine wire brushes to burnish the carving. Grain raising has not been a significant issue in testing with water based stains, so light sanding is enough before staining.
