How does the ramrod tip attach to the ramrod?

The ramrod comes with a tenon cut into the end, a small necked-down area that the tapered tip slides over. The tip is the part that enters the stock, and once fitted it is pinned in place with a cross pin driven through a small hole and peened on both ends.
