How does the hook breech system work on the Hawken rifle kit?
On the hook breech system, you remove two keys and the barrel can tip up out of the stock, leaving the tang, or standing breech, in the stock. No screws need to be removed to pull the barrel out. It is good procedure to also pop out the lock before removing the barrel, and the ramrod must be removed first or it will hold the barrel in place.
