How do you remove bone black pigment from an area where you applied too much?

While the pigment is still wet, you can carefully wipe some areas off with a rag. Once it has dried, it is often easier to lighten an area with steel wool or a scotch-brite pad, especially on high spots that would naturally see more wear.
