How do you raise the grain on a rifle stock?

Wipe the stock down with a water-saturated paper towel, then let it dry in the air or speed drying with a heat gun. Once dry, sand it again with fine grit paper to cut off the raised fuzz. This is typically repeated a couple of times, with more repetitions giving a finer final finish.
