How do you finish walnut or cherry stocks to bring out their figure?
Figured walnut and cherry can look a bit weak if left with just an oil finish and no color added, so it helps to color the wood a little to make it richer, using dye stains or a shellac sealer coat. Iron nitrate has also produced really nice results on walnut. Cherry tends to darken further with time on its own.
