How do you avoid breaking a stock when fitting the barrel tang into the barrel channel?
The barrel tang and bolster both have a taper, so hammering the barrel in too far can act like a wedge and crack the stock. Instead, work the barrel in and out gradually, using transfer color to find and remove only where there is interference, rather than forcing it in.
