How do you apply bone black pigment to a stock?

Dampen a one inch paint brush lightly with the oil finish you already used, then pick up bone black powder on a scrap piece of metal and work it into the brush. The mix should be worked until it is not too wet, since a too-wet mix does not darken the wood well, and it should be rich with pigment before applying it to areas you want darkened.
