Can the pores in an ash stock be darkened for a striking look?
Since ash is a ring porous wood with more open pores in certain grain bands, those pores can be selectively darkened for effect. One approach is to let a sealer coat dry first, then apply black spray paint and work it back off the surface so the color stays down in the pores; bone black can also be worked into the pores for a similar effect.
