Any tips for installing the pins that hold the ramrod pipes in place?

Clamp the pipe down snugly in its inlet, being careful not to squeeze hard enough to bend it, then put a little wax such as beeswax on the pin so it slides through the hole more easily. Use a pin with a rounded end so it does not catch and break out the wood on the far side.
